El presidente Vladimir Putin estuvo presente en la península de Crimea para celebrar los nueve años de la anexión a Rusia.
Este sábado se conmemoran nueve años del momento en que Rusia proclama como suya el territorio que hasta ese momento pertenecía a Ucrania. El presidente Putin estuvo en el parque arqueológico de Quersoneso. Durante el día, se conmemoraron acontecimientos importantes para la península.

En 2014, tras la caída del presidente ucraniano de ese momento, Víktor Yanukóvich, un 22 de febrero, varios sectores de la población en se manifestaron en contra del nuevo gobierno en Kiev, así proclamaron el deseo de vincularse a Moscú. El 6 de marzo, las autoridades oficiales de la República de Crimea convocaron a un referéndum y el 16 de celebró, con un participación del 89% de los ciudadanos, donde el 97% dijo sí a la anexión con Rusia.
El 18 de marzo de 2014 se firmó en Moscú un tratado sobre la reunificación de Crimea con Rusia.
