La Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT) en una ceremonia celebrada en Arabia Saudita entregó la distinción al municipio de Choachí como uno de los mejores destinos turísticos del mundo.
Jornada muy importante para Cundinamarca, en especial a Choachí, quien se convirtió en el mejor pueblo turístico de Colombia y uno de los más relevantes a nivel mundial.
La ceremonia que se celebro en Al-Ula, Arabia Saudita, tuvo como representación por Colombia, al alcalde del municipio, el Sr. Carlos Alberdi Velásquez Garzón, quien recibió el reconocimiento departe de la OMT.

Esta es la segunda edición de los «Mejores Pueblos para el Turismo». La Gerente del Instituto Departamental de Cultura y Turismo de Cundinamarca, Luisa Fernanda Aguirre Herrera manifestó su alegría por el reconocimiento de parte de la OMT a uno delos municipios del departamento.
«Es maravilloso ver cómo después del cierre de fronteras y todo lo que conllevó la pandemia, nuestro territorio es reconocido gracias a la riqueza turística de un municipio como Choachí», sentenció.
Durante el encuentro también se entregaron más reconocimientos a otros pueblos del resto del mundo, donde se destacan los lugares de América, como: Aguarico en Ecuador; Caspalá en Argentina, Creel en México; y Lamas en Perú.
